Nessie!!! In Lake Superior!!! Who’d a thought?

James Murphy (Brian Krause) is a cryptozoologist. Thirty years ago, during a trip to Loch Ness, Scotland his father was killed by the loch ness monster known as "Nessie". Since then he has vowed to find the creature and kill it. Murphy's research leads him to the sleepy town of Pike Island, Ashburn, on Lake Superior. Murphy hires Josh Riley (Niall Matter) as his guide. Murphy tries to convince Josh's mother, Sheriff Karen Riley (Carrie Genzel), that the 60-foot plesiosaur is real and is killing and breeding.

At first Sheriff Riley is unconvinced that there is a dinosaur running around her town. After a few people get eaten she begins to believe that something bad is going on. After much investigation Murphy believes that the monster is nesting somewhere in the area.

In the meantime, Josh's ex-girlfriend Zoe and some of her friends decide to go on a camping trip to a near-by island. Little do they know that this is the spot where Nessie has decided to lay her eggs. And she had laid a lot of eggs. That start to hatch.

"Lock Ness Terror" was released in 2008 and was written and directed by Paul Ziller. Nessie starts out, indeed, in Loch Ness but somehow ends up in Lake Superior. Don’t know how, don’t care. Nessie attacked and killed Murphy's father because he stole her egg from the Loch. Never come between a Plesiosaur and her baby. Now on Lake Superior she makes another nest. The baby Plesiosaurs don’t run too fast but there are a lot of them and they have a way of sneaking up on people when their back is turned. Much blood and death ensue. For both people and baby Plesiosaurs.

This is what a Sci-Fi/Horror Genre “B” movie grows up to be. Nessie herself is actually cool. The baby Nessie’s are, dare I say cute. At least till they start eating you. The story may be a little weak and the special effects are so-so but the monsters are fun. When it comes to "B" movies I can give them a lot of slack if they don't have good acting or special effects or anything else. It could all be lame as long as you have a great monster. Fortunately this movie had just about anything you could want. The characters were well formed. The acting was good. The special effects were decent for a “B” movie and it was filmed in beautiful Vancouver.

Needless to say, our hero bounty hunter comes out on top. Or does he? Perfect. If you love monster movies and are a fan of “B” movies you are in luck with this one.
