An alien spaceship crash lands in a Christmas tree lot in Houston, Texas. An alien named Talec (Mattias Hues) suddenly appears from within the ship.

Two men infiltrate a Federal evidence warehouse. They kill a police officer and steal a briefcase full of cocaine. Posing as cops they walk out to their getaway car and driver. As they pull away the building explodes killing or injuring those inside. The now three men, in suits, enter a private restaurant and give the briefcase full of drugs to their boss, Victor Manning (Sherman Howard). Across from Manning is a man called Davis who is there to purchase the drugs. In reality he is an undercover cop, Detective Ray Turner (Alex Morris). Outside listening in is Detective Jack Caine (Dolph Lundgren).

When two men enter a convenience store across the street from the restaurant to rob it Caine hurries in to stop the robbery. While he is occupied with the robbers undercover cop Turner is being outed by Manning and his henchmen. Turner is killed and Manning leaves with the money telling his minions to clean up and gather up the cocaine. As soon as Manning leaves Talec shows up. He kills the minions and takes the cocaine.

When Caine gets there Talec is gone and everyone is dead, including his partner. Now Caine is determined to hunt down Manning and his crew, called The White Boys. Caine’s boss wants him to go on vacation but the Feds want him to help with the case since it’s their drugs that are missing. Caine is teamed up with Special Agent Arwood ‘Larry’ Smith (Brian Benben). Smith is a by the book, out of his league, kind of guy and all of 5’6” to Caine’s 6’5”. Not exactly a match made in heaven for the renegade Caine.

Added to the mix is another alien called Azeck (Jay Bilas). He is a space cop after the bad alien Talec. Talec is using humans as mixing bowls. He injects them with cocaine and extracts the heightened endorphins from their brains. It’s a perfect drug. One that will make him rich on his planet. Azeck knows that if Talec isn’t stopped more will come from his planet and humans on Earth will be slaughtered for the precious drug.

“I Come In Peace” AKA “Dark Angel” was released in 1990 and was directed by Craig R. Baxley. It is an American science fiction film. The original title of the film was “Dark Angel” however there were two other films with the same title, one from 1925 and another from 1935, so Triumph Releasing changed the name to “I Come In Peace” for the U.S. release, which to me is a much better title anyway. The film was released under its original title other countries.

The movie is one of those that didn’t do well at the box office but garnered a cult following when it went to VHS. I don’t think it was released on DVD until somewhere around 2011. With a young Dolph Lundgren it is a really fun movie to watch. In the late 80’s and early 90’s there were a lot of science fiction movies to choose from. This one fell through the cracks for the most part. The action is constant and the explosions numerous. There are car crashes and cool guns as well as a very deadly CD. Part alien cops and drug dealers as well as a sorta buddy movie it mixes some cool effects with some fun one liners. At an hour and a half it’s an enjoyable way to pass the time.

Matthias Hues, who plays Talec the drug dealer alien, performed all of his own stunts. At 6’5” there were no doubles that were his size. The "alien gun" is a modified Calico M950.
