Slugs…The Movie
Mike Brady (Michael Garfield) is the local health inspector. He is charged with evicting resident Ron Bell. When he goes to Bell's house to serve the eviction notice, he finds Bell's body. Giant Slugs had been living in Bell's basement. They now move into the sewer system. They head in the direction of a new housing development. When Mike inspects the new development he finds slime trails.
Mike's small peaceful town is experiencing a rash of strange deaths. The bodies appear to have been eaten. A strain of black slugs spawned from the disposal of toxic waste is to blame. The slimy creatures are large and vicious. And they have teeth. The body count begins to rise. When the slugs get into the water supply Brady knows that these normally small inoffensive creatures will eat there way through the population unless they are stopped. His task is to find a way to destroy them. Poison isn't working.
Horror movie heroes are never the police or the marines or the National Guard. This movie is no exception. Our heroes are a health inspector, a sanitation worker, and a science teacher. They are the first line of defense between the mutant monsters and civilization.
Slugs are asexual. If you have one you have a thousand. If you have a thousand… Lord help us. To kill them Brady first needs to find them. Where do giant slugs hang out? The sewer. Next you have to gather them together in one place. How do you herd carnivorous slugs? Meat. How do you kill toxic wasted slugs? You blow them up. What is the result of that? You basically blow up your town.
"Slugs" was released in 1988 and was directed by Juan Piquer Simon. The special effects are wonderful. The different ways someone can die by slug is rather innovative at times, and horrific. In this action packed saga you will see lots of blood and slimy gore and a decent body count. You will see lots of bad acting and bad dialogue. This adds a lot to the camp factor. Last but not least you will see really great slugs. It’s gross. You’ll love it.
For parents: there is one sex scene where you see soft core porn and some boobs.
