Marie (Roxane Berard) tells her lover Edmond Valier (Booth Colman) that she is going to marry his boss, Charles Montcour (Leo Penn). Marie loves Edmond, but Charles is rich. Before she leaves, she gives him a crystal ball as a parting gift. When Edmond’s uncle, Andre Giraud (Boris Karloff) finds out about the end of the affair he recommends that Edmond start up another affair right away, to forget about Marie.
After Marie and Charles are married, Charles goes out of town for a few weeks. He asks Edmond to keep an eye on Marie while he is gone. Edmond is still in love with Marie but doesn’t want to be alone with her. He begins looking at the crystal ball that Marie had given him. In it he sees Marie in the arms of another man. One that isn’t her husband. Edmond becomes obsessed with what is going on in the crystal ball.
“The Crystal Ball” is the sixth episode created for the anthology series “The Veil”. It is one of 4 episodes compiled for the feature film "The Veil". The other episodes in the compilation were "The Doctors", "Summer Heat", and "Vision of Crime".
The series, except for the first episode, was hosted by Boris Karloff. Karloff also starred in all but one episode, (Jack the Ripper).
