Abdul Amir (Reed Hadley) is the ruler of the small country of Kalid.  Amir is adored by his subjects and is dying of cancer.  Amir’s fiancé, Tracy Wilson (Regina Carrol), has been in touch with a doctor, Dr. Lloyd Trenton (Kent Taylor), who says he can help.  Dr. Trenton’s methods are a bit unusual.  He believes he can transplant Amir’s brain into that of a donor in order to save the ruler.  Amir’s doctor, Dr. Bob Nigserian (Grant Williams) injects him with a serum that will preserve his brain until it can be put into the donor.  Bob and a trusted friend, Mohammed (Zandor Vorkov), take Amir to Dr. Trenton’s laboratory.

Dr. Trenton’s staff consists of a dwarf, Dorro (Angelo Rossitto), and a hulking deformed simpleton, Gor (John Bloom).  As Trenton and Dorro prepare for the operation, Gor is sent out to find a man to use as the donor.  In the process of capturing a victim (Alex Elliot), Gor accidentally kills him.  He still brings the man back to the clinic.  Trenton is pissed at Gor for killing the man and is running out of time before the brain dies, so he transplants Amir’s brain into Gor.

After bringing Amir to Trenton’s laboratory, Bob and Mohammed begin the drive back.  Bob notices that they are being followed.  The man following them is a hit man, Angel (Richard Smedley) who forces them off the road.  Mohammed is killed in the crash, but Bob manages to jump from the car before it bursts into flames.  Bob calls Tracy and has her fly out from Kalid to meet him.  Bob tells her about the hit man but has no idea why he was targeted.

Bob finds out that Amir’s brain was put into Gor’s body.  Problems arise when Amir’s brain begins to react to Gor’s muscle memory.  The Amir/Gor hybrid starts to act violently and escapes from the lab.  Bob goes searching for Amir to try to return him to Dr. Trenton’s lab.  What Bob doesn’t know is that Tracy is league with Dr. Trenton and Dr. Trenton has some sinister plans for Amir.

“Brain of Blood” AKA “The Creature's Revenge” AKA “The Oozing Skull” AKA “The Undying Brain”, was released in 1971 and was directed by Al Adamson.  It is a low budget American horror film made for the drive-in circuit.

Most Al Adamson movies are scattered and quite often really, really bad.  Usually because Adamson often cannibalizes other films and does awful cut and paste maneuvers on other bad movies to make a new bad movie, he can call his own.  This film appears to be an original film.  In this case the movie is only normally bad.

There’s also a subplot with a couple girls chained up in the basement that Dorro tortures and uses for blood to help Dr. Trenton with his experiments.

For a low budget bad film there are a few well known, albeit of the mostly low budget type films, actors in it.  Grant Williams, who plays Dr. Bob Nigserian, is probably best known for playing Scott Carey in “The Incredible Shrinking Man” 1957 although he has also done several other films in the horror genre.  Angelo Rossitto is also known in the field of horror, most notably “Freaks” 1932.  Regina Carrol is known for lots of exploitation films. Regina was also married to Adamson.  They married in 1972 and were married until her death in 1992.
