Terror(dactyl) in the aisles
What looks like a meteor shower outside of Los Angeles is in actuality Pterodactyls from outer space. Lars (Christopher John Jennings) and Jonas (Jason Tobias) are a couple of friends just hanging out. They see the meteor shower and decide that if they can find one maybe they can sell it and make a lot of money. They manage to find what they think is a meteorite and drive away with it. What they've really found is an egg.
The Pterodactyls launch a full attack on Los Angeles. Their main objective is to get back their egg. Since Lars and Jonas have no idea what is in the back of their truck, they are unaware that they are being targeted. They enlist the aid of a bartender named Candice (Candice Nunes), her roommate Valerie (Bianca Haase) and a drunk ex-marine, with a slight case of PTSD, Sampson (Jack E. Curenton). The best they can do is try to survive.
“Terrordactyl” was released in 2016 and was directed by Don Bitters III and Geoff Reisner. If you are expecting to see great acting or dialogue then you are missing the point of the movie. The point is there really isn’t a point. It’s just action. The plot is minimal but it’s enough to get you where you need to be, and that is up to your ‘you-know-what’ in Pterodactyls. Of course you are also going to be up to your ‘you-know-what’ in “B” movie tropes so, be prepared.
It is non-stop action and all out mayhem. Destruction everywhere. And the Pterodactyls are fabulous. Basically everything you need for a great monster movie. Turn down the lights. Pop some popcorn. Pull up a couch and just enjoy.
I heard that there were no puppets in the movie, just CGI which is interesting. If so, the actors did a decent job of pretending. I have to admit that I have a fondness for prehistoric flying reptiles. They look both deadly and goofy at the same time. How can you not love them? Maybe that’s why I liked the movie so much. As far as I’m concerned, we need more Pterodactyl movies.
