Fictional Materials Substances and Chemicals on film
On film, especially in science fiction, storylines incorporate fictional materials, elements or other substances to advance the plot. Some are inventive and some are silly, but all are necessary to solve a problem when the real thing doesn’t exist. Be it film or literature, there are dozens and dozens of them. Many of them transcend the written word onto film. As for fictional substances, materials and chemicals on film-

Adamantium- The metal used to create Wolverine's skeleton in various Marvel films.
Afraidium- Made up metal that is yellow and tastes like chicken, from the movie “Robots”.
Allanite Steel- Metal used to make the transatlantic tunnel in the 1935 film "Transatlantic Tunnel".
Amazonium or Feminum- Metal used to make Wonder Woman’s tiara, bracelets and magic lasso in various Wonder Woman films.
Argon-886- An unstable element that is used to propel rounds fired from a voice activated machine pistol referred to as the Lawgiver. From Judge Dredd.
Atmosphereum- Alien element used as a power source in “The Lost Skeleton of Cadavra”.
Axonite- Element that possesses the capability of replicating any other substance in the universe. It is a sentient molecule that must spread to reproduce. From Dr. Who.
Balthorium- An element used in the Russian doomsday device in “Dr. Strangelove”.
Bazoolium- A gold colored metal that can predict the weather in Dr. Who.
Beryillium Sphere- Substance used to operate the Quantum Flux Drive in the movie “Galaxy Quest”.
Beskar AKA Mandalorian Iron- A durable metal used to create armor. From “The Mandalorian”.
Blob- Alien substance that eats people in the movie “The Blob”.
Carbonadium- A radioactive metal that was stronger than steel but more malleable and cheaper than adamantium. From the Marvel world.
Carbonite- Liquid made from carbon gas that can become solid through rapid freezing. Used on Han Solo in “Star Wars”.
Cargonite- Impenetrable substance developed by Tony Nelson and stolen by Scott Nelson allowing him to pass through solid matter. From the movie “4-D Man”.
Carvorite- The anti-gravity substance from “First Men in the Moon”.
Chrome Steel- Although there is such a thing, nowadays referred to as stainless steel, it is not capable of holding back “King Kong”.
Chronoton- A time-manipulating element that allows users to control or halt the flow of time. From Star Trek.
Coaxium AKA Hyperfuel- A rare form of hypermatter and a type of starship fuel mined on the planet Kessel in the movie “Solo: A Star Wars Story”.
Corbomite- Explosive element made up by Captain Kirk to bluff his way out of a stalemate.
Cortosis- A lightsaber resistant metal used in Star Wars.
Dalekanium AKA Polycarbide- Material used in the construction of Dalek casings in the “Dr. Who” stories.
Dark Metal- A metal discovered by Batman that has the power to link the known multiverse with the Dark Multiverse in the “Dark Nights: Metal” storyline.
Dilithium Crystals- Mineral that provides power to propel Starships in various Star Trek movies.
Dragon Scales- Stronger than steel, like Limpet's teeth. Some say impervious to dragon fire. From “Dragonslayer”.
Duranium- An extremely hard alloy metal used in Starships from “Star Trek”.
Durasteel- A Flexible metal that is resistant to heat and cold and is stress resistant. Used in the manufacture of spacecraft hulls. From the “Star Wars” films.
Explosive Ring- A ring supposedly containing either a reactive metal or some kind of anti-matter suspended in a magnetic field. When dissolved in water the containment field fails and the ring explodes in the movie “Star Trek Into Darkness”.
Flubber- Anti-gravity substance invented by Professor Ned Brainard in “The Absent Minded Professor”.
Galvorn- Metal that is as hard as dwarf-steel but more flexible. From “Lord of the Rings”.
Green Life Serum- Substance invented by Dr. West that brings dead tissue back to life in the Re-Animator films.
Herculite- The transparent metal substance used to create the observation port on the USOS Seaview in the movie “Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea”.
Hyper-intelligence drug- Drug given to Lucy causing her to evolve into a super being in the movie “Lucy”.
Impervium- A metal stronger than duranium that is used for capital ships like General Grevious's starfighter in the “Star Wars” world.
Infinity Stones- Infinity Stones are the remnants of six singularities that existed before the Big Bang. From the Marvel Universe.
Intelligence Pill- A pill that allows individuals to use 100% of the brain turning them into super beings in “Limitless”.
Invisible Liquid Explosive- Substance that works with the stomach digestive juices and explodes when people drink it from “Live Wire”.
Invisibility fluid-The serum used to make Sebastian Caine invisible in “Hollow Man”.
Kryptonite-Substance from planet Krypton that makes Superman weak in various Superman films.
Kyber Crystal AKA Kaiburr Crystal- A living crystal attuned to The Force, found in planets across the galaxy and used in the construction of light sabers and superweapons.
Lunarium- Substance more powerful than uranium used by Moon men in “Radar Men from the Moon” movie serial.
Midi-Chlorians- Species of sentient microscopic organisms that connect The Force to individuals with a sufficient Midi-Chlorian count. From Star Wars.
Mithril- Material that is harder than steel and easier than silk used to make Frodo’s vest in “The Lord of the Rings”.
Monolith Monsters- the alien rocks that grow when exposed to water in “The Monolith Monsters”.
Naqahdah- Rare super-dense mineral used as a power source from the “Stargate” series.
Naquadria- A highly unstable radioactive isotope derived from Naquadah with the potential to be a powerful energy source from the “Stargate” series.
Oxygen Destroyer- Chemical compound used to kill Godzilla in "Godzilla".
Philote- Smallest possible particle interconnected by quantum entanglement. From Ender’s Game.
Photafine Steel- A metal that gets colder the hotter the outside temperature gets. From the Dr. Who series.
Polydichloric Euthimal- The drug killing miners in “Outland”.
Psycic Paper- Shows anything the Doctor wishes. His ID made of it lets him in anywhere in the Dr. Who series.
Pym-particles- Sub-atomic particles invented by Hank Pym used to shrink or grow objects and people in the Ant-Man films.
Quadium- Explosive material more powerful than plutonium from “The Mouse That Roared”.
Quantium- Rare matter used in jumpgates in the Babylon 5 series.
Radium X- Highly radioactive alien element used to create the Death Beam in “The Invisible Ray”.
Schwartz, liquid- A fuel for spaceships from the movie “Spaceballs”.
Smilex- the poison the Joker used to disfigure people giving them a ghastly appearance in “Batman”.
Soy Sauce- The drug from “John Dies at the End”.
Space Titanium- Alien metal used by the Simians to create Mechgodzilla in “Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla”.
Spice AKA Melange- A Drug prominent in the “Dune” movies.
Transformium- Metal used to create the Transformers in various Transformer Movies.
Transparent Aluminum- Substance invented by Dr. Nichols and Scotty in “Star Trek IV- The Voyage Home”.
Trinium- Alien material used to make the Stargate's Iris in Stargate series.
Tritamium- Metal used to make starships and various other tools in the Star Trek films.
Turbinium- An element mined on Mars in “Total Recall”.
Tylium- An ore used for fueling human and Cylon spaceships in Battlestar Galactica.
Unobtanium- An extremely valuable compound found on Pandora in “Avatar. A material that can withstand extreme heat and convert it into energy in the movie “The Core”.
Upsidaisium- An anti-gravity metal found in Mt. Flatten. From “The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle and Friends”.
Uru-Metal used by the gods of Asgard to create items such as Thor’s hammer in the Marvel films.
Venus Drug- Drug taken by women to make them appear more desirable. From Star Trek.
Vibranium- Metal used to make Captain America’s shield in various Captain America movies. Also, an alien metal found in Wakanda from “Black Panther”.
Yautjavian metal- An extremely light metal used to create weapons used by the alien Yutja race. From the “Predator” movies.
