Copper sulfate can be used as an algaecide, herbicide and to kill Salamander men.
A race of creatures called Kulimons or Salamander People are bent on taking over Earth. They plan on first releasing a major plague on the Earth. Then they plan on blowing up its major cities using atomic weapons. The people of the Emerald Planet in the Moffit Galaxy are again afraid that the destruction of Earth would also result in the destruction of their planet. The Emerald men on the high counsel confer. I would like to know why there are no women on the high counsel. What do you expect from creatures that wear socks on their hands? To fight the Salamander People they decide to send Starman to stop them from their evil plan. With his trusty globe meter Starman can fly in space, detect radiation and speak and understand every language on Earth.
Unfortunately the Salamander People have already begun their infiltration of Earth. The plague has already started. The Japanese scientists are feverishly working on a cure but the sneaky Salamander People can hypnotize people with their radioactive breath. Among the Salamander People’s arsenal of weapons is a space ship that emits a high frequency. The sound incapacitates anyone who hears it, but Starman foils their plans. By accident some children find out that if you spray Copper Sulfate on a Salamander Person it will disintegrate. The scientists begin making it in vast quantities. The Salamander people retreat to formulate a new plan of attack. They decide that the only way they can outwit the humans is to change the rotation of the Earth. Duh. Of course. Can the people of Earth find a way to stop the Salamander People from going forward with their plan or can Starman help? But is this too much for Starman?
“Invaders From Space” was release in 1964 and was directed by Teruo Ishii. It is the second of four movies released in 1964 that feature the Starman character. The movies are a repackaging of 9 movie featurettes that were made into movies for American television. “Invaders From Space” is the second movie and is a combination of the 3rd and 4th featurettes. The short films were part of the “Super Giant” series. The two Super Giant movies were titled “The Mysterious Spacemen's Demonic Castle” and “Earth on the Verge of Destruction”. The 9 original movies were made between 1957 and 1959.
The four movies that make up the Starman series are “Atomic Rulers of the World” (shorts 1 & 2), “Invaders from Space” (shorts 3 & 4), “Attack from Space” (shorts 5 & 6), and “Evil Brain from Outer Space.” (shorts 7, 8, & 9).
In the original serial, the aliens are described as being the kappa, a creature from Japanese mythology. In the American version, the Kulimon aliens are called "Salamander People".
One other note. I’ve watched two of these stories so far and, for future reference, if you are going to make grown men run around in leotards, you need to make them all wear underwear. If Starman can wear underwear, everybody can wear underwear.
