If you’re looking for realism… Fowget aboud it.

April (Tara Reid) and Fin (Ian Ziering) fly to New York to be on a TV show after April’s book “How to Survive a Sharknado” is published. On the way the plane is caught in a freak storm and a category 7 sharknado engulfs the airplane. A Shark is sucked in by one of the turbines. The engine breaks away and sharks flood into the hole. April loses a hand from a shark bite and Fin ends up landing the plane when the pilots, Captain Bob Wilson (Robert Hays) and jst officer Jonni Valentine (Rachel True), are eaten by sharks.

Once on the ground Fin rushes April to the hospital. Fin's sister Ellen Brody (Kari Wuhrer) is also in New York with her husband Martin (McGrath) and her kids Vaughn (Dante Palminteri) and Mora (Courtney Baxter). There are site seeing when the sharknados hit. Fin has to gather his sister and her family together and protect them against the onslaught of sharknados. In addition it is up to him to save New York City. In the immortal words of Fin Shepard “They’re sharks, they’re scary, and no one wants to be eaten.”

"Sharknado 2" was released in 2014 and was directed by Anthony C. Ferrante. The film was produced by Asylum pictures and the SYFY channel. Here’s where it starts to get weird. Thanks to the popularity of Sharknado 1 every actor who loves cheezy movies wanted to be in this one. So peppered throughout the movie are stars and personalities galore. Along with the plethora of cameos we add homages to other movies and TV shows. (Airplane, Twilight Zone, Taxi, etc.) I swear I saw a member of ZZ Top on a subway car.

Included are also new and innovative ways to kill people with sharks. The cheeze and the camp are amped up. The action is just as wild as before. And with so many people wanting to be in it there is no way this movie can be played seriously. And they didn’t try. It is a madhouse of action and camp and sharks. Tons of special effects and plenty of blood. It is a disaster of a movie as well as a disaster movie.

Director Anthony Ferrante again makes a cameo appearance as the guitar playing crooner in the subway. Petunia, the name given to a stuffed opossum, appears in every Sharknado movie. In "Sharknado 2" she is in the shop where Martin and Vaughn go to look for supplies.
